Dopo un inaspettato ritorno in occasione dell'esibizione ai Grammys nel mese di Febbraio, durante la quale fu reso noto il rientro di Chris Slade dietro la batteria (Phil Rudd fu arrestato poco prima dell'uscita di "Rock or Bust" in Dicembre con l'accusa di aver assoldato in sicario per un'assassinio e possesso di droga), e i due concerti all'altrettanto mondano "Coachella Festival", il "Rock or Bust Tour" fu piuttosto turbolento. Anche se si trattò di un tour da record per la velocità con cui fecero "sold out" praticamente ovunque (anche in Italia con le oltre 90.000 presenze ad Imola), nel Marzo 2016 il cantante Brian Johnson interruppe il tour per un consistente peggioramento dell'udito, problema che si trascinava sin dalle prime date in maniera però meno invasiva. Dopo settimane di incertezza, in Aprile fu annunciata con estremo stupore (furono addirittura offerti rimborsi ai biglietti) la presenza di Axl Rose al microfono, in pausa dai concerti con i suoi Guns'n'Roses, per le successive date programmate.
