From the interview exclusively for AC / DC Italy, the question of how Dave came into contact with the band: << Malcolm Young and myself we came from both from one of the best bands in Sydney, The Velvet Underground, but at different times. Malcolm left the band before I joined them but of course we knew each other very well even though we had not met yet. After The Velvet Underground broke up, I responded to a newspaper advertisement "Sydney Morning Herald" where rock singer looking for a "tough", and Malcolm was that I answered the phone. We were happy because finally we were able to talk on the phone and invited me to a jam session with him, drummer Colin Burgess and bassist Larry Van Knedt since they needed a singer to finish the group. The jam session was great. We shook hands, we declared and created the band. I had the opportunity to know the younger brother of Malcolm, Angus, a few months before because he was looking for a replacement for his band "Kentuckee" because their singer was gone. I was not interested in the type of covers that they played because they were mostly concentrated on the guitar, so I refused the offer. After a couple of tests Malcolm, Colin, Larry and I, Malcolm asked if we could do an audition to Angus for his band "Kentuckee" had melted. We agreed and after a Jam, Angus began to be part of our band who in the meantime had not yet name. >> According to Evans, his departure was triggered by personal success with female fans, who transformed the jealousy of the Young in resentment toward him. In more accredited, a clash of personalities (especially with the figure of Angus, which was emerging slowly on stage) could be the most plausible cause. Those months in the AC / DC were still enough to give good visibility to a recent record of the singer, self-defining (perhaps in a slightly self-centered) "founding member" in various interviews, subtitles and adhesives applied on the covers of his albums.
